Paintings from the Hélas Series

During a period of approximately 4 years, I painted over 270 self-portraits based on the same image, hoping to become a better painter, and contemplating the idea of an immortality project. The last of them was completed in late 1996/early 1997.

My last exhibit, a collaboration with William Zimmerman, was in Bergen, Norway in 1997.
